I'm in paradise...

Today, I spent the afternoon naked, lying on a beach in some far-away land, staring up into the bright moon in the sky surrounded by hundreds of brilliantly flashing, mesmerizing lights. To my left was my pregnant girlfriend, lying out nude as well, except for a cute thong to preserve her modesty. Held lightly on my lip was a half-smoked, and thus, half-enjoyed joint stuffed with the finest chronic humanity has been able to cultivate.
This is my Second Life. A place of infinite fantasy. My escape from reality. Escape - let's get that out of the way. Everybody needs to disconnect for a bit, shut down and just drift off into their own inner universe of dreams and fantasies. The incredible randomness of Second Life is something that's stimulating, while still being relaxing.
So, how do you get to a place like this in a video game? What is this vast area of truly unexplored social networking all about? If Twitter, with it's nifty ability of making it stupidly easy to maintain almost-instant contact with an exaggerated amount of people, is the buzz communication tool of the now, Second Life, though far older, has the potential to be the Twitter of the future. Not only can you communicate in SL, but with its deep array of tools, you can show your creativity to others.
SL is all about randomness. I got to the place I'm at by first joinning a random group on some random newb's profile. Another group sent out an advertisement in THAT group, and finally, a joint event with a third group landed me on the nude beach. I now happen to be the member of an exclusive swinger group on Second Life, not indifferent to some secret society of the Real Life. Do I have any sort of actual power by being a member of "Club Elite", as opposed to having joined, say, Yale's Skull & Bones? No, of course not...it's ludicrous to even make the comparison. But in my own little fantasy world...

Think of the Children!

About an hour ago I created this blog with no fanfare whatsoever, a small divestiture as I created a login ID in order to leave a comment on another blog. For an hour, I've been fairly excited about writing about something, but couldn't come up with anything beyond the obvious:

Our kids will read this in the future.

It trips me out completely to think that today's "contemporary" and "cool" will be tomorrow's "oldies" and "Dad, you used to listen to this crap?". (Aside: What will the future slang word for "crap" be?)

Now, I love rap music. Unfortunately, I'm probably the only person within my social circle with the "wanna-be-black" gene, so I'm forced to listen to U2 or some other rock derivation/degradation. I digress. Rap music - filthy songs about stylized posturizing sprinkled with a pinch of misogyny. I can't get enough of it. As Lil Wayne would say, "Feed me rappers, or feed me beats!"

During my early high school years, my uncle used to drive me to school. He had a large, blue Chevy pickup truck and constantly listened to the oldies station (MAGIC ONE-OH-TWO-POINT-SEVEN!). I used to enjoy listening to the Beatles, and that dude that sang "Under the Boardwalk" (Is that the greatest oldies song ever? I must have heard it at least twice a day). It was soft, pleasant music that would calm and relax me on my way to school. See where I'm going with this yet?

Fast-forward to c. 2017. It's the fall of The Eldest's 14th year of life, and I'm driving her and The Youngest to school. Magic 102.7 is on...the oldies station, playing my favorite songs from the last decade...and I immediately raise the volume up to the max and yell out, "Your mom used to go nuts to this song!!!" The song? "Get Low" by Lil Jon and the Ying Yang Twins (isn't it supposed to be Yin-Yang?). I turn around and pump my fist into that awkward barrier of air between the front seat and The Youngest's face and yell, "SKEET SKEET SKEET!!!" Everyone in the car is oblivious to anything. It's simply a fun song from 2002.

First!

Well, I was only planning on creating an account on here so I can leave comments and such, but I got drawn in. Guess I'm gonna have to come up with something to write about. :D
